I am scheduled to have surgery on Monday at noon. It is ablation, the burning of the uterus lining, to cure the problem of reeeeally heavy bleeding every month (sorry for tmi). I was curious to know if any of you have ever had it done? I'm hoping what I've read of easy recovery and good results is true. It actually is a new method called Novasure. It only takes 90 seconds to do. I have to be put out, and I have to have a D&C too. I am pretty much ok with all of it because for me, this sounds like a light at the end of a lifelong, really long, tunnel!! I'm looking forward to some serious relief.

I would appreciate thoughts and prayers as well, as any surgery is SOMETHING to go through. It is outpatient, by the way so I'm glad about that. Thanks.

No, I haven't heard of Novasure, but it sounds like it will work well.  It sounds like when people have nosebleeds; they do similar things to stop that.  It sounds like you have a positive attitude and that's always helpful.  Best of luck and will keep you in my prayers.  Evelyn

Went through the same problems at 30, had to have a hystrectomy, therefore no chance of more kidlets.  I am so glad that they have solutions to these problems now.  I'll be thinking of you and praying it helps... So how in the world are you going to handle all the thinking and no doing for a few days????

I actually went in to dr asking for hysterectomy ... that's how desperate I've been. And he gladly explained this newer procedure. It doesn't effect PMS but heck, that's not my main issue anyway. I can't have more children after this... I physically could get pregnant but it would be dangerous for me and for the baby. Besides, we're DONE. Hubby took care of that when we were back in WI. I did have a moment where I mourned the ABILITY to have children... just a fading moment. I'm really fine with the three we have and I still have it in the back of my mind that I could adopt someday. I've always wanted to do that anyway. Besides, I have too many cool projects going on to have a baby around anyway!! LOL

Had the surgery yesterday, it went so fast and other than a little cramping last night, I feel fine!! Way better than I could've ever imagined! I still have to take it easy and I can't lift anything heavy for 6 weeks. UGH that is NOT going to be easy!! LOL But I'm fine and glad it's over!

I didn't see this before.

I'm glad you went through the procedure okay and all is well.  (((HUGS)))

I was going to tell you that I had a friend who had this done (years ago) and she had some minor discomfort but after a month or so it was back to the same heavy bleeding she went in for originally.

I am sure that the procedure has improved since she had hers done though.

Thanks for your comments!!

Wow, wolfie, sure hope that doesn't happen to me. I do know that the procedure I had is a newer version of the procedure, so hopefully that's good news. I've heard very positive things about it so I'm crossing my fingers!! So far so good...

And yes Brama Kaye--you're RIGHT. I'm already thinking thinking thinking!! The day I got home from the hospital, I found a box full of six primitive decor books by Judy Condon and you can only imagine what that's doing to me, leafing through all those books!! My poor Genie. Nay. My poor HUSBAND!! hahaha

Geez~ I just didn't realize what this was all about, I hope this will help you. My neighbor had this same procedure done about two years ago, it helped her. Of course, I had a hysterectomy in my early thirties, I don't think this would have helped my issues. I tell you one thing, I DON'T miss that at all! LOL! Lord knows, I did my share!

Don't push it with the lifting, you'll be sorry later, it's NOT worth it. I been there and done that.

I promise, I am sooo taking it easy! I DO NOT want more problems or to end up in the hosp again!!! This has been THE LONGEST week...sitting around and laying around....I'm always sleepy from laying around!! It's so hard for me. BUT...I woke up yesterday morning b/c my husband gets up for work at 4:30am...and my brain immediately turns on..it's awful. Takes me forever to go back to sleep. Anyway, I completely redecorated my daughter's room before I fell back asleep, so now I have a plan for I get off this non-lifting thing! LOL
