Hi. I am a new member here and wanted to say hello to everyone. In 2 weeks we will finally close on our new home which is a 1940's Cape Cod and I can't wait to move in and start decorating. I am looking for a Duncan Phyfe dining room set with sideboard and china cabinet which would fit well with the dining area. There is already one in the home but I think the family will be taking it even though we made an offer on ,it to stay with the home. In the meantime I have been collecting pewter anything and have gotten some good deals. Also in going through my own things which I have had boxed up for years in nooks I find I have quite a selection of Americana items that would fit the colonial decor of the home. I look forward to an inviting fire in the living room fireplace and making my home cosy and welcoming for family and friends. I will load pictures of the home so you can all see what it looks like and help me with your tips and hints as to how you would decorate it. This is my last major project and third and retirement home. It sits on 3 acres and my neighbors are the cows on the farm up the road. The house is just a step from being on the mountaintop although I have gorgeous scenery right on my own land and up my mountain back yard where the pines stand waving in the breeze in the distance.
The anticipation and anxiety of getting ready to move is getting to me especially moving this close to the holidays and before the snows fly. Does anyone have any ideas to cure a case of nerves? If so I would love all feedback on how to relax... because packing boxes just isn't taking my mind off of starting this new adventure.

Annie~ Welcome to the forum. You will love it here and get lots of great ideas and advice. I know ho stressful moving can be, but it will all be worth it when you are finished. Good luck with your move. I am looking forward to seeing pictures of your new house. ~Dan~

Hi Dan and Laura, Thankyou for the wonderful welcome. Now I posted links to the pictures of my almost new home and perhaps you both can help make the links go through. I have tried everything to get the links to work.
As you will see I will have my work cut out for me decorating the home but You all here have been giving me some nice ideas after looking at all the photos of homes that are posted here.
We expected the closing this week but the well water test came back still testing for ecoli so the owners have to shock the well a third time. Once that is finished..and we get in the house the first week we are having the septic checked before the ground freezes for the winter. I was hoping that we would be somewhat settled before the holidays begin with a few days to relax in between. Right now we are packing fools and have almost the 8 bedroom home that we own now all packed and ready to move. We sold our home quick and are just waiting to move into our new place. I am sure the new owners of this home are wanting to move in before the snows fly again here in Upstate NY.
Its so nice to be here and I look forward to chatting back and forth through posts with you all. By the way Laura my family comes from Avellino near Naples. I love your Italian Blog. Its Great! and welcoming.
