When does everybody start to decorate for Christmas? I start the day after Thanksgiving

and I leave it up until the day after New Years.

We always used to put things up starting the day after Thanksgiving & then take them down the day after Christmas.  As the years have progressed, however, we are more likely than not to leave things up until after New Years.

We really love Christmas & one year we just wanted to get right into it so we decided to put up all our decorations the day after Halloween!  Really!  Never did that again, but it was a hoot!  I can still remember our son being in charge of dusting the ornaments hanging on the tree & the gifts underneath   : )

When I was growing up my mother faithfully decorated 2 weeks before Christmas & then everything was taken down the day after the Feast of the Three Kings (January 6).

Blessings,

Shirlee

We usually start putting things up on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and leave them up until after my birthday in January.

Three weeks away!  Wow, time is flying and haven't started Christmas shopping yet.

Put it up starting November 11th.  It takes at least a week.  Take it down starting December 26th.  Takes a couple of days.  ~Dan~

I usually put mine up the weekend after thanksgiving. At the clubhouse here at the villas  we are going to decorate the place on Nov 19th, because some of the people will be going south for the winter right after that and also Dec is such a busy time for everyone. We are going to have a tree trimming coffee and cookie party.

When I was a child we started the day after Thanksgiving and left everything up untill the 6th of January. I used to start 12 days before Christmas, then moved it to the 1st of December, this year I'm starting the week after Thanksgiving. I take everything down but the snowmen, between Christmas and New Years Eve. The snowmen stay out for most of January.

Do not follow where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

Well, I am hoping to get started as soon as my floors get done, and I get my walls painted! LOL! I usually would start the week of Thanksgiving, and leave things up until New Years Day. Then I just leave the snowmen and other things up until Feb-March, and then I start with the Spring things. I just can't do a heck of alot until this all gets done. The good news is, I have the whole weekend off, and so DH and I will kick it down and hopefully get alot done. We have to order our transition and bullnose pieces, which will take about three to five days to arrive. We went ahead and tore all the trim off, since we'll be replacing all that when we do put the beadboard and wider trim up. We're thinking the stairs will take the most time to do, but I will just be thrilled to get the other done first! I also did get DH's desk painted, it looks pretty nice, we just have to move it in the office now. I just have to get through working tonight, and then we'll be hitting it hard.

I usually start the weekend after Thanksgiving. Then I try to have it all down & packed away by the day after New Year's. Growing up, we always put our tree up around the 10th of Dec. and my mom had it all down & packed away on the 26th! I always hated that! Of course, I still hate taking it all down & putting it away. I love Christmas!

Hi everyone!

Here, while I am preparing the Thanksgiving meal the guys are bringing all the decor totes to the deck. After the meal and everyone has gone home latter in the evening I set up the tree. It takes all weekend for me to get the inside done. Hubby is generally outside doing his thing...but this year I think he will put out less, and to be honest I am thinking of the same.

Everything with the exception of the tree's and the villages come down the day after Christmas, the rest comes down January 2!

Right now I have decor for Thanksgiving up. I leave the pumpkins in place from Halloween (except the ones with goofy faces) and add corn stalks and turkey's, pilgrim's etc...

Everyone enjoy the seasonal decorating..woo hoo, I am half way through Christmas shopping already!

I used to start the day after Thanksgiving--but, I have so much stuff after all these years of collecting that I start 2 weeks BEFORE Thanksgiving now.  If I had my way, I'd keep Christmas all year long!!!  So, two more weeks is cool with me!!  LOL

We always leave our decorations up through The Feast of the Three Kings (Jan. 6--otherwise known as The Twelfth Day of Christmas).  Lately, we've been hosting our annual Christmas Party sometime during the Twelve Days of Christmas--people are less busy and seem to enjoy themselves a lot more then.

I just LOVE Christmas!!!

I usually try to wait until after Thanksgiving, only because I get so frustrated the way decorations seem to go from Halloween to Christmas.  It's just me - nothing against other people decorating early.  I just love Fall and Thanksgiving and like to enjoy it as much as I can.

One year, I just didn't feel like decorating for Christmas at all (wasn't a good year that year).  Anyway, DH put out the tree the week before Christmas and I was forced the day before Christmas Eve to throw a few decorations on it.  Poor guy - don't know what happened to me that year - can't remember - don't want to either.

12 trees....I put up 5 and thought that was alot!  It's my favorite time of the year, too.  I leave up the decorations time about the middle of January and start putting the up after Thanksgiving.

I start putting up my trees right after trick or treating is done!  It's a family tradition, Chili in the crock pot and everyone pitches in.  But, I put up 27 trees~ so I need to have a head start!  happy

Yes, I know...my family reminds me all the time!  This year I actually said that I think I won't put everything up... and you should have seen their faces.  The kids were all like "Mom, you have to!"    I suppose I could have a worse vice, right??  wink

We usually start the first or second weekend of November, but it takes a week or two, putting it out a little at a time.  We begin with our "big tree" and then just keep adding.  We started this year on November 5th, but it wasn't all completed until about November 18th because we couldn't be home long enough to get it all done!  I like to put it up that early so we can come home from our Thanksgiving holiday (out of town) and just really enjoy it and watch Christmas movies by the light of the trees!  We leave it up until after New Years Day.  For us that long stretch is just the entire Christmas season with Thanksgiving blended in there with it!

Blessings,

Tammy
