DS and I had gone to a home show a few weeks ago and one of the vendors was one of those one day installation tub/shower companies. DS loved the idea that he wouldn't have to do the work LOL.
I was wondering if any of you have ever dealt with these companies w/o me mentioning their names? I did a google and found both good and bad on them. Thanks in advance

I have never heard of any before. It sounds like something that would be worth checking out. Hopefully, someone on here can give you some advice! Good luck! ~Dan~

A man my sister works with was going to go that route with his bathroom. He called them out for a quote and he thought it was too high, so he didn't. Cindy

Thank you everyone. I'm still waiting on the two companies to learn more. I was just hoping to get more personal input than what I found.
Glenna, I'm glad to know your SIL likes hers. That helps.
Cindy, I'm not sure what the costs are yet, although I was finding anywhere from 2000-4000 which I think is too high too. For that kind of money I can get a nice soaker tub or whirlpool, LOL
So we'll see.... I thought they'd be ringing my phone off the hook by now LOL
It's currently our only bath, at least until we can do an addition which is way off in the future,so I want to be careful what we choose. Although I do have a doggy shower set up in the garage if need be... LOL
I think I want to do a dark wood look floor and some beadboard on the walls. I'll probably re-purpose the exsisting cabinet and just change out the toilet, sink and fixtures.
I'm really liking those vessel sinks, but oh the $$$
If this ever happens, I'll be sure to share.

Mare, I don't know much about this. I hope you can find something that won't break your budget. We had someone install our shower downstairs, but I can't recall if it was the place we purchased from or the contractor who helped finish the downstairs. Either way, our shower doors still aren't put on yet, and we haven't a vanity YET. I'd have to see if my DH recalls.
Bathrooms ARE the most expensive rooms to do. I wish you well in finding what you are looking for.

We re-did our bathroom this past January. I had made an appt with one of these companies but then 3 different people told me how expensive they were so I cancelled before they even came.
We totally gutted our bathroom (see my pics of bathroom remodel in an earlier post). I got the tile for the shower and floor from Lowes. We just painted the walls, no tile. My splurge was the vanity cabinet but other than that we went to the local home stores for all the supplies, including faucets. (Home Depot & Lowes). If you can do some of the work yourself, that's where the savings is. We got an estimate for labor only which was $8,000. My DH ended up doing it himself with the help of his Dad and my brother so we saved a bunch of money.
You have to be careful with wood and beadboard in the bathroom. All the water and humidity take its toll after awhile. I know they make "sheets" that look like beadboard for the walls but I don't know how expensive it is.
Hope this helps.

I have to disagree about using wood in a bathroom. As a lover of all things vintage, my passion is vintage bathrooms. There should be no problem using wood in a new bathroom as long as you're properly ventilated...and you should be to code + .
The beadboard (please don't use those panelling sheets, ugh) will hold up quite well. Spend an extra few $$$ on true beadboard and seal it, then paint. No problem.
I just viewed a house from the 20's with the original bathroom, it was still mint. I agree with you...spend the $$$ on a beautiful vintage tub for about $750 and reglaze it. Beadboard will take just one day to install unless you have a kings bathroom. You will need to reinforce the floor joists to hold the weight if necessary.

Since we're in the same area, I can give you the name of a fabulous contractor who will NOT take you to the cleaners...he does stellar work & you would be very pleased.

Hi all ! I know of a company of over here for bathrooms is called( Bath Fitters) dont know if you have them over there but from what I have heard from friends they are good and wont take ya to the cleaners on price if thats what you are looking for. We also have a Canadian contractor whom is famous over here and has his own show called( Holmes on Homes) and a amazing website as well, his name is Mike Holmes ranked as the best ! I dont know if his show is over there ! As for wood in the bathroom I think there are types of wood that are made especially for bathrooms. They have a water or vapor barriers on them so they dont rot or warp! Hope this will help a bit, good luck !

Good luck with your bathroom redo. We redid our half bath a couple years ago. I put a vessel sink on top of an antique washstand. I got the vessel sink from overstock.com. Gorgeous for very little money...got so many compliments on it. Overstock may have other things you need, too like faucets, etc. Got those from there, too. Big selection. You won't be disappointed. Fast, cheap shipping too.

Thos is out current bath, Well, it's functional anyway LOL After talking with one of the companies, I guess because we have a one piece acrylic tub already, it will have to be removed. Apparently they are not strong enough as a base for those new surrounds. So we will be able to have more options now.
Lilly, Bathfiiters is the one we saw at the home show and I love Holmes on homes. Mike is easy on the eye too (wink wink)
Judy, I'd love to see a pic of your vanity with the vessel sink. Sounds gorgeous and something like I have in mind too .
Thank you all again for your responses. DH is getting excited about this project and told me he likes my ideas too You all are so inspiring!

Looking for more input please....
Well, we finally had the re-bath person out to see what they had. DH and I originally agreed we were just going to look and then decide...but noooo he went and signed a contract UGH! LOL
Anyway, the one we are looking at is a slate in the rock creek color with a mexican sand tub. The color is similar to this one
then use the oil rubbed bronze fixtures.
Do you think the aged plaster finish on the upper walls and beadboard on the lower Not sure what color) would give me a "Prim" look along with wood laminite flooring? And lots of prim accessories of course..LOL
You can see the current bath below, so we have to do something and of course DH wants it now..

Love this look and adding the oil rubbed bronze will make it look great along with the prim decor!! Can't wait to see the finished project. Oh, and I am like your husband, I want it now!!! Took me nine months to finish my bathroom. What a mess but I am so loving it now.

heheh..Jax, normally I am the one who wants it done yesterday. LOL
But this is one I want to like living with for many years, I just wanted to put more time and decision making into it I guess, especially since we only have the one bath right now...
Thanks for the input, I'm already feeling better about it.

Mareishtude, I have seen many vessel sinks on craigslist, very cheap. Also any type of faucets you could want for under $50.00. Check it out before you spend hundred of dollars on faucets. I use the Indianapolis Indiana craigslist. A lot of people do shipping. I don't know if you do business with anyone on there but I have and I have not been disappointed. Also many things can be a sink. I refinish furniture all the time. Pieces I buy at auction and refinish or paint. My husband fixes them if needed. Anyway, I did several old short curved front dressers as vessel sinks and sold them as soon as I was finished. People build platforms in the bathroom and set the dresser on it to make it up to the height they need for their sinks. I plan on doing this for our new bath in the future when we add it and a new bedroom. Right now my husband is making benches out of antique beds. They sell as fast as he makes them. I will post photos.

Thanks Christie. Yes I do go on CL from time to time.Never thought to look for the fixtures there though I told DH I wanted to see if I could find a piece of furniture like awashstand for the sink and covert it. He said I probably wouldn't find one to fit that space.
I was just checking some of my saved favorites and saw these

I'm thinking of combining the two styles so I have my faucet and shlves. I've been playing with woodworking, So I may just try to make my own... Ugh...I can hear DH now..LOL
