Tracy Jones' custom-built Washington house includes a fantastic old-fashioned fireplace built with rectangular rocks of various thicknesses. Bouquets of wildflowers strung upside down across the front add a dash of natural color, and a pair of pewter plates placed on the mantel contribute a dash of shine.

Peg Perfection

Even Tracy’s laundry room gets primitive treatment, including a rustic mustard-hued accent wall and a simple peg rack adorned with pretty accents. Plain white curtains echo the clean, uncluttered feel found in the rest of the house.

Laundry List

A punched-metal chandelier, antique children’s clothes hung from a peg rack and a cabinet outfitted with primitive treasures add country charm to the laundry room. Tracy also spread a striped runner across the washer and dryer to give them a little old-fashioned flair.

Get Cozy

Tracy brings the outdoors inside with bits of greenery placed inside a crock and a hanging ornament—and an adorable squirrel figurine that perches atop pantry boxes on the shelf. Colorful fabric accents, including an antique quilt folded on the bookshelf and a crow pillow, soften the space.

Live Well

A black wood hutch, a colorful rug and a floral-patterned chair play off of the simple white walls and light wood flooring in the living room. An arrangement of wildflowers in a stoneware crock contribute another splash of color to the room.

Pail in Comparison

Homespun treasures, such as a fabric cone accent and a bit of black-and-red patchwork, combine with adorable sheep figurines and a bowl holding raffia and an egg to create a charming vignette in this wall cabinet.

Wreath All About It

A simply framed mirror hung from a nail turns this dry sink into a makeshift vanity. Other elements, including a berry wreath on the wall and a lamp and a stuffed dog nestled in a doll bed, enliven the space with primitive character.
